Childswork Parent Orientation & Meet and Greet Reminder

Dear Childswork Families,

Summer camps are in full-swing and the days are flying by! In four short weeks we will welcome our new and returning children and families to the 2018/19 school year at Childswork Learning Center. In eager anticipation our administrative team, faculty, and staff would like to remind you about three important upcoming dates:

Parent Orientation will be held on September 5th at 6:00PM.

This event is for adults. Attendance is required for all new families (minimum of one parent per family) and returning families are strongly encouraged to attend. Childswork will provide complimentary Explorer’s care for a limited amount of children. Please contact Explorer’s Coordinator Candice A. at candicea@childswork.org to register.

This event is designed for parents to meet the administrative team members and learn about Childswork’s best practices and protocols. Parents will also attend a classroom specific orientation led by teachers to learn about the curriculum, classroom procedures, and expectations.

Meet and Greets will be held on September 6th for M-Th and Tu-Th classes. The M-F and MWF classes will meet on September 7th. All Meet and Greets begin at your regularly scheduled morning class arrival time for approximately 1-1.5 hours.

Meet and Greets are attended by both parents and children together. This child-centered activity provides the children with time to spend in their new classrooms, meet new friends and begin to bond with teachers. Our goal is to help children begin the acclimation process and to feel at-home in their new surroundings. Therefore, please know that our teachers will be focused on the children. We kindly request parents do the same.

In a few weeks, you will receive a welcome packet from our school that includes a letter from your classroom teacher and additional information about our school mission, philosophy, and pedagogy.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us at (503)-234-3611.

Our administrative team, faculty and staff look forward to working in partnership with you and your child to create an excellent early childhood education experience!

Joyfully,

Julie Lee

Welcome Letter from Julie Lee, our new Executive Director

Dear Childswork Families,

I am privileged and thrilled to have the opportunity to follow in Kim Hill’s footsteps and serve as your new Executive Director. The first time I visited the school I immediately knew that it was a special place and I wanted to become a part of the Childswork learning community.

As a career early childhood educator and program administrator, I passionately believe in the importance of providing high-quality ECE programs for all children regardless of socioeconomic standing, race, religion, ethnicity, gender, or family life-style. I consider it my privilege and honor to support the amazing teachers and staff at Childswork so that they are able to provide your children with excellence in early childhood education.

My goal is to collaborate closely with the school faculty and administration to carry on the mission and philosophy as intended by the school founder and the Board of Directors, to “…provide supportive, nurturing, and encouraging environments for children and their families to discover new relationships, to discover new ideas, to construct knowledge through play, and to cultivate a joy for learning.”

I’d like to take a moment to share my first impressions and the reasons I accepted this position. Childswork has several qualities that make the school exceptional:

  • Each child is known and valued. Students step on campus and are immediately greeted by name. Each child is understood as an individual with unique strengths, talents, and interests.
  • A highly educated, dedicated, creative, and nurturing faculty, administrative team, and staff.
  • Exceptional stimulating and engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments.
  • A joyful community. Students experience the joy of learning and families are offered the opportunity to become partners in their children’s education.

I am looking forward to meeting every family personally. Please join us on Tuesday, April 10th or Wednesday, April 11th in the Family Lounge for coffee and conversation at 8:30AM. If you are unable to attend the morning meeting, I would like to invite you to set up an appointment with me personally so that we can become acquainted. Feel free to email me at Julie@childswork.org

I am looking forward to a long and successful relationship with the Childswork community. You have an extraordinary group of children and I am eager to get to know each and every one.

Warmly,

Julie Lee

Its Time for Fall 2018 Enrollment!

We are starting enrollment in our Preschool classes and Kindergarten for Fall, 2018! Class offerings include our popular Parent/Child 2's class, a variety of preschool classes for 3-5 year olds and our fabulous Kindergarten. Our Kindergarten program has a small class size with two teachers. It is a great alternative for families looking for a nurturing environment in a program that meets State Common Core Standards through an emergent, play-based curriculum. Please call for more information or to sign up for a tour at 503-234-3611.
